HOW BIRD NETTING IS INSTALLED

Using stainless steel fasteners and anchors attached to the structure, Bell Bird Control frames out the targeted area with stainless steel cabling. Cable is tensioned and the netting then stretched and attached to the cable creating a bird barrier. Netting should be well supported by cabling beneath larger panels.

Bell Bird Control selects hardware on a case by case to be engineered job specific. Everything should be stainless steel or, at the very least, galvanized: the cable, turnbuckles, hog-rings, screw-eyes, anchor bolts, knock-on clips, ferrules.

OUR THOUGHTS ON BIRD NETTING

Netting is a great tool to keep birds from accessing perches, roosts, equipment, voids, etc.

Making a netting system work in the field; on rooftops, from boom lifts and scaffolding, on construction sites, in the streets of major cities, and neighborhoods of suburban commercial businesses and public works projects is a lot harder than it sounds just reading about the construction of netting system components.

Bell Bird Control has hundreds of long term successful netting systems still in place at clients’ facilities and facades.

Our systems are built Better Engineered, Longer Lasting.

Electric Track Deterrent Systems

COLORS:

Black, Light Grey, Beige, Brick, Red

POWER OPTIONS:

— Solar - Great for open rooftops or wide streets.
Plug In - Uses a 120V outlet and run wire to it.

ELECTRIC DETERRENTS INSTALLATION

High/Low Voltage Track teaches birds not to land in the area. Track is installed on ledges. The track lays flat to 1/14” so it is nearly invisible from below. Works on all species of target pest birds, pigeons, sparrows, gulls, & starlings. A pair of species specific strategically placed positive and ground wires delivers the jolt through the birds’ feet.

Electrical Deterrent Systems should be installed by a professional trained in construction methodology for installation of an electrical device. Systems are adhered to the surface substrates using suitable UV protected adhesives.

The track is often powered by solar chargers.

ONE OF OUR TOOLS IS A PATENTED SYSTEM

Bell Bird Control even has a patented BellStrip (US Patent #6,933,446) that uses principles of behavior modification to teach birds that their former roosting spots are no longer appropriate. BellStrip™ is a low profile, inconspicuous, high voltage - low amperage bird deterrent system that uses a powerful yet harmless intermittent shock to train pest birds to stay away from protected areas.

OUR THOUGHTS ON ELECTRIC TRACK SYSTEMS

Electric Track Systems are used for behavior modification, teaching birds not to land on buildings where it is installed. They are tremendously effective on all species of target pest birds and an integral part of most façade and rooftop bird control projects.

Long flat surfaces are better served by this discreet material rather than spikes or any other method.

Proper planning and engineering is essential to making these types of systems work, ensuring sufficient voltage is carried to all points on the system.

Bell has hundreds of long term successful electric track systems still in place at clients’ facilities and on facades.

Bird Post & Wire Barriers

Bird Wire is a tensioned fine wire system set up over a surface to prevent pigeons from landing. There is a tiny spring to create an unstable feeling for a pigeon as he tries to land on the wire(s), causing the bird to fly away.

HOW BIRD WIRE IS INSTALLED:

Bird Wire is suspended from small stainless steel posts anchored to a surface most commonly using UV stabilized adhesives..

OUR THOUGHTS ON BIRD WIRE:

Bird Wire is a discreet barrier deterrent specifically targeting pigeons. Good for small spaces such as window sills, window, crowns, and decorative features of historic buildings.

Bird Spikes

Bird Spikes are used as a physical barrier to prevent pigeons from roosting on a particular surface. You may know them as Nixalite or Needle Strips. Stainless steel pins protruding upward from a UV polycarbonate or stainless steel base which is glued, strapped, or anchored to the surface.

HOW BIRD SPIKES ARE INSTALLED:

Bird Spikes are installed most commonly using UV stabilized adhesives suitable for most substrates. They can be strapped down to pipes or conduit.

OUR THOUGHTS ON BIRD SPIKES:

Bird Spikes are a safe choice when it is easy for the pest birds to move other perches. They can be an effective “fill-in” tool for small exposed spaces or for last resort situations. We try to minimize the usage of bird spikes in favor of other more discreet and successful methods.

Optical Gel

Optical Gel is a humane bird repellent that deters birds using sight, smell and touch. It keeps birds from roosting without doing them any harm. Pigeons view your building as unwelcoming. The sight, smell, and feel of this product gives them reasons to rest, nest, and poop on somewhere other than your building.

HOW OPTICAL GEL IS INSTALLED:

Optical Gel comes in a container that is secured to the surface where birds are attracted. This solution lasts several years once the disks are installed on your building.

OUR THOUGHTS ON OPTICAL GEL:

We are pleased to use this product for pigeon control. It's Non-Toxic, Safe, and Environmentally Friendly. The gel is also Durable and Weather-Resistant. It is also a discreet solution that preserves your buildings aesthetcs both as installed and as a tool to prevent pigeons and their messes.

Bird Wires In A Cable Grid System

HOW SEAGULL GRID SYSTEMS ARE INSTALLED:

A cable grid system can be used to deter seagulls from flying on to the roof areas of buildings. 3/64" stainless steel marine grade cable will be installed in a grid pattern approximately 12-15 feet on center. Galvanized steel poles will be attached to the existing fencing. The cables will be attached to the poles and the structures on the roof. The poles will allow the wires to be elevated up to eight feet above the roof to allow access for maintenance. Each pole is placed on a protective rubber pad.

OUR THOUGHTS ON BIRD WIRES:

This is the seagull deterrent method approved by the US Department of Agriculture Wildlife Service. Gulls don’t like to fly under things, so putting up a fake “ceiling” on the roof is highly effective as a seagull deterrent. Entirely stainless steel and aluminum, non-corrosive and built to withstand harsh roof-top weather conditions. Seagulls hate landing under wires, will abandon your property immediately and permanently.

The animals see the grid as something that narrows their landing areas, so they choose other buildings and surfaces to make their resting places and homes. The poles raise the grid above the roof line so it is safe and high enough for roof maintenance to take place. This grid installation is not based on narrow poles, so it is difficult to see from afar or street level. The lines of wire are barely visible against the sky.

Symterra Pulse (Flock Off)

The Symterra (formerly Flock Off) system is a new bird deterrent system that uses electromagnetic technology to keep birds away. This revolutionary, hi-tech, and humane solution to stop birds from landing on your structure immediately and permanently. The system creates an invisible electromagnetic field that prevents birds from landing. It temporarily affects the birds’ GPS and does not allow them to triangulate their position

HOW SYMTERRA (FLOCK OFF) IS INSTALLED:

The system includes several components that can be adapted and installed on just about any structure. They include:

  • A durable power supply to convert electricity into an electromagnetic pulse.

  • Double-insulated wires to carry the pulse to a series of capacitors.

  • Capacitors that potentiate the pulse and form the electromagnetic barrier.

  • Corrosion-resistant wiring to connect up to 100 capacitors per power supply.

OUR THOUGHTS ON SYNTERRA (FLOCK OFF):

It works. It’s safe for birds and people. It works to disguise buildings and be invisible on birds' radar. The technology used is non-invasive, doesn’t emit any harmful radiation, nor does it interfere with other electronic equipment. The birds don't even know they are being kept away from these locations. Birds just search for the next good place to go - which is anywhere but your property. It's guaranteed and birds can't adopt their biology and behaviors to find a way to outsmart this solution. . It is aesthetically pleasing, silent, odorless, and engineered for durability in all environments.

BirdSlide

BirdSlide is a slanted surface that protects the ledge against all bird species. Birds can't get a grip and slide right off the ledge. BirdSlide can be color matched to the structure, so it looks like it's part of the architecture. The product is made of polycarbonate material and is UV resistant.

HOW BIRDSLIDE IS INSTALLED:

BirdSlide can be base is glued to any surface including edges, eaves, angle irons, I-Beams and most “L” shaped ledges where total exclusion is the goal. BirdSlide can be screwed to wood for secured installation. Bell Bird Control scales BirdSlide to meet the entire surface area needed. For narrow ledges Bell Bird Control can trim BirdSlide down and for add extensions for wider ledges. BirdSlide can be painted to match any surface color.

OUR THOUGHTS ON BIRDSLIDE:

BirdSlide is a discreet barrier deterrent that protects against pest birds including small species such as swallows. Bell Bird Control has used this product on various ledges of multiple floors of a Parking Garage bird protection project to prevent pigeons from roosting. All bird debris was removed from the ledge surface where the deterrent system was installed. The BirdSlide was then attached using construction adhesive.
